VOLUNTEERS WEEK 2009


The VOLUNTEER CENTRE launches the start of it's celebrations for VOLUNTEERS WEEK 2009 at the QUICKCHECK ROADSHOW in the South West College in Dungannon on Thursday 07th May. Special Guest HUGO DUNCAN will be hosting his Radio Ulster, COUNTRY AFTERNOON show from the event. For further details contact Steven McElhatton at our Dungannon office on ( 028-87729690 )

This year Volunteer's Week celebrates it's 25th anniversary. For further details of volunteers week plus all the activities and celebrations planned by the voluntary sector in Northern Ireland visit the Volunteer Development Agency website at, www.volunteering-ni.org

 

Mayor of Armagh City, Councillor Noel Sheridan hosted a reception at the Palace Demesne for representatives and volunteers from local groups. Mayor Sheridan praised the work and commitment of the volunteers and the organisations in the Armagh Council area, recognising the valuable contribution they make to the well being of the entire community. A BIG thank you to Mayor Sheridan, Cara Patterson and the team for all their support this year.

CELEBRATING Volunteers Week at the South West College with Hugo Duncan are volunteers Mary and Doris, volunteer centre staff Siobhan and Pauline, Good Morning project officer Steven, Southern Health Trust volunteer coordinator Lynne and local councillor Frances. The Good Morning Neighbour project continues its participation in the roadshow events throughout the Dungannon Council area.

 

 

 

 

WHAT CAN WE DO FOR YOU?
The centre will be conducting a review of the services and facilities that are offered to community and voluntary sector groups. We are aware that there are many programmes and initiatives out there but just how useful or beneficial are they to you? We hope with your help to find out!

EVENTS/TRAINING
Our new training calendar for the first 6 months of the year will be available on the 15th April. We have events being hosted/funded/managed by the volunteer centre and the Good Morning Neighbour project. There are currently 6 seperate training courses available to volunteers and staff from registered organisations. Please visit these pages for more details.

DISPOSAL of ASSETS and UNUSED/REDUNDANT EQUIPMENT
The volunteer centre has some ICT equipment and office furniture it will be disposing of before the summer. Most of this will be free with a few items for sale. For further details contact the centres coordinator at either Armagh or Dungannon offices.

SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
Armagh & Dungannon Volunteer Centre has acheived the prestigious environmental management award BS 8555.
