NIACRO is currently recruiting volunteers for two of their projects working with children and young people
· Independent Visitor Scheme is focused on young people up to 18yrs who are living in care. The role of the volunteer is to work on a 1-2-1 basis with one of these young people in a befriending capacity. The idea is that the Independent Visitor is a consistent person among all the professionals in these young people’s lives.
· Mentoring Project is working with young people 10 – 17yrs who have offended or are at risk of offending. The role of the volunteer is to befriend the young person and help them to identify and achieve goals which may have an impact on reducing their offending behaviour.

· Switchboard / Reception - Volunteers required to be a first point of contact for young people ringing in to speak to a counsellor.
· Outreach Project - Volunteering opportunity with CHIPS (ChildLine in Partnership with Schools) to raise awareness of ChildLine. Volunteer should be able to communicate with children and have spare time during the day to go to schools.

Praxis Mental Health programme of care within Praxis Care Group has been established for 20 years and aims to improve the quality of life for people who experience, or who are vulnerable to experiencing, mental ill health through promoting the independence of such individuals and encouraging their integration into the local community.
THE SERVICES - WHAT WE DO
Praxis provides the following services to people who have experienced mental ill health:
190 people are housed and supported at 16 towns throughout Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man. For some people their placement in Praxis accommodation will be their first real home, and some will have experienced a period of homelessness in the past.
There are 4 types of Praxis Accommodation, ie residential care home, residential flat cluster, flat cluster and dispersed intensively supported housing (DISH). These can be defined as follows:
Residential Accommodation (ie Residential Care Home, Residential Flat Cluster): A home type setting where people have their own bedroom and shared communal facilities.
Dispersed Intensively Supported Housing (DISH) and Flat Cluster: People are housed in individual houses or flats and have regular visits from Praxis staff, who provide help and support.
